outdoor grill policy

At Wind Crest (an Erickson community with 2,000+ residents that is located in Colorado), the policy in the Resident Handbook reads: "Due to fire code requirements, grills, hibachis, or any other similar devices used for cooking, heating, or any other purpose are not allowed to be used or stored on balconies or patios." -Barry Peters

Dolores did not state Covenant Living of Cromwell's policy. If we live in a patio home or cottage, we may have electric or gas grills. Apartment residents may not have grills, even if they have patios or balconies. However, there are gas grills available for their use in the courtyard. The option to have a grill was one factor in my choosing this particular CCRC and a patio home. Because of limited access to Dining (staffing issues), we can't always rely on the fact that there are indoor and outdoor grills available to the cooks.

It's the same here in Monroe Village. No grills, but staff will sometimes grill something. Also no candles or open flames. Appliances are electric.

Pennswood Village does not permit outdoor grills of any kind, but staff cooks grill foods on the dining patio. Propane appliances are prohibited, and candles and other open flames are not permitted. Apartment stoves are electric.

I live at Medford Leas in Medford New Jersey and have not heard of any grill issues either from residents or staff.

Does your community have a policy on the type of outdoor grill residents of apartments with patios, cottages, and/or perimeter homes may use: propane, charcoal or electric?
